Downtown Pittsburgh used to be a great place to shop with great sales in the three main department stores; Hornes, Gimbels and Kaufmann's. In the 1940s people flocked to downtown by trolley wearing their very best clothes and hats. Aunt Lou felt right at home, I'm sure, because she was always prim and proper in public.
One time though, she was in the company of some Mudie girls, Gladys, and others who delighted in causing a ruckus, just clowning around.
As they all crossed the street, an overly-packed suitcase burst open, causing all these bras and girdles and undergarments and everything to dump onto the street.
Aunt Lou's solution was to continue walking and she very quietly told them, "I'm not with you girls."
The rowdy group, embarrassed but laughing, was forced to gather their things and resume their walk across the street WITHOUT their beloved Aunt Lou.
