Mom always talks about Frannie Czepiewski as "one of my favorite people," on (left)
She also talks very highly of Aunt Lou as being "the most generous person (in the middle)
friend Kay Lew (a fun friend) (right)
Once upon a time my parents were on an AYH hike. In the middle of woods a dog started following them. The hikers were stuck with this dog There was even a man who loudly yelled for this dog to "GO HOME" in German. At the end of end of the hike the dog ran in front of a motorcycle. She was hit but not injured. Fast forward to Mom and Dad taking this unwanted dog home and putting her in the garage. Dog chewed up 4 very expensive wet-suits and my Dad was pretty mad. Dad was out a few hundred dollars ALREADY......on the first day! You might think we learned our lesson. You might think we got rid of this stupid nuisance. But of course we all know that this beagle became part of the family. She was named after the leader of the hike, Frannie Czepiewski. Getting hit by a motor cycle and chewing up the wet-suits on her first day with us? That was only the beginning!!! She lived for 19 or 20 years and she had some stories! She once boarded the school bus after me and walked all the way to the back. Another time she escaped and wouldn't come to us on the corner of 5th Ave. and Penn (How did she survive that??) Once we were sailing (on the boat named The Beagle) and she barked at a dog on shore and then PLOP. Bobby jumped in to rescue her. Oh the stories go on and on.
How would you feel if this disobedient, smelly, obese, very bad, unwanted
mutt was named after YOU?
Who remembers our dog FRANNIE?
